Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet of active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons room temperature butter
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add 1 cup of flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring well to combine.
- Gradually incorporate the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a warm cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
- Once doubled in size, punch down the dough. Divide it into equal pieces and shape each piece into an elongated bun.
- Place the shaped buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let them rise again for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider brushing with an egg wash and sprinkling sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking.
