Description

Crafted with care, these elegant hot dog buns elevate the humble hot dog into a gourmet experience with a soft, pillowy texture and delicate aroma.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons room temperature butter

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add 1 cup of flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring well to combine.
  3. Gradually incorporate the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a warm cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
  6. Once doubled in size, punch down the dough. Divide it into equal pieces and shape each piece into an elongated bun.
  7. Place the shaped buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let them rise again for 15 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider brushing with an egg wash and sprinkling sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking.
