Description
A glossy, spicy-sweet dish with crispy chicken, perfect for weeknight dinners or parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) boneless chicken thighs or tenders, trimmed and patted dry
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (avocado or canola)
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
- 1 tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil (optional)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes or sriracha (optional)
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced (green parts)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- Fresh cilantro leaves, lightly chopped
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: Toss chicken with oil, salt, and pepper. Let rest 10–15 minutes at room temperature.
- Prepare the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine sweet chili sauce, soy, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and sesame oil. Warm gently until glossy and slightly thickened (about 2–3 minutes).
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange chicken in a single layer in the basket without overlapping. Lightly spray or brush with oil.
- Air-fry the chicken for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway. Cook until the exterior is deep golden and an instant-read thermometer reads 165°F (74°C).
- Glaze the chicken: Transfer hot chicken to a bowl, pour warm glaze over it, and toss gently to coat. Return to the air fryer for 1–2 minutes to set the glaze.
- Finish and garnish: Plate immediately, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, scallions, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
Notes
Pat chicken dry and lightly oil for the best texture. Arrange in a single layer for crispiness.
