Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized tart apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup of heavy cream (warm)
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt (fine)
  • 1/4 cup of crushed pecans (toasted)

Instructions

  1. Core each apple and slice the top off for a polished presentation.
  2. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, lemon juice, and butter over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and turns amber.
  3. Slowly pour in the warm heavy cream, mixing well. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla, simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until thickened.
  4. Drizzle a spoonful of caramel inside each apple, allowing to settle before adding more.
  5. Sprinkle each apple with crushed pecans and sea salt.
