Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 2 green onions, finely chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle and transfer it to a greased baking sheet.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned. Drain excess fat, reserving about a tablespoon in the pan.
- Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and cook for 1 minute until lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until thickened and bubbly, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the sausage gravy over the dough, leaving a border. Sprinkle cheese on top.
- Create four wells in the cheese and crack an egg into each well.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until the eggs are set and the crust is golden brown.
- Garnish with green onions before serving.
Notes
Serve immediately for the best flavor. You can experiment with different cheeses for added creaminess.
