- ½ cup granulated sugar

- 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the room temperature butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared dish.
- Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, toss the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Sauté until the apples soften and caramelize, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Remove the base from the oven, layer the caramelized apple mixture over it, and sprinkle the oat topping on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow to cool completely in the dish before slicing into bars for serving.
