Description

A warm and fluffy bread packed with gooey mozzarella and fragrant roasted garlic, perfect for sharing at any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bulb of roasted garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (like basil or parsley)
  • Butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mix. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, covering it with a clean cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Once risen, roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Mash the roasted garlic and spread it evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle fresh herbs and shredded mozzarella on top.
  9. Carefully roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch thick swirls.
  10. Place the swirls in a greased baking dish, cut side up. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes
