Description

A warm and comforting pie of spiced apple wedges baked in a single crust, perfect for quick desserts or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 34 medium apples, peeled, cored, and cut into wedges (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh is best)
  • 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust (fits a standard pie dish)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into even wedges.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Add the apple wedges to the bowl and toss until coated with the spice-sugar mix.
  5. Fit the pie crust into a pie dish and press it gently into the sides.
  6. Pile the coated apple wedges into the crust, arranging them snugly.
  7. Dot the top of the apples with small pieces of butter.
  8. Bake on the middle rack for 30–35 minutes until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let the pie sit for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 hours, refrigerated for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 1 month.
