Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken breast, cubed
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked egg noodles or rice (for serving)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep Your Ingredients: Chop the onion, garlic, and mushrooms, and cube the chicken.
- Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the cubed chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Mushrooms: Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Create the Sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Mix in the Sour Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream until well combined. Let it simmer on low for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve: Serve the chicken stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, serve over gluten-free pasta or rice. To make it vegetarian, replace the chicken with your favorite plant-based protein.
