- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and white sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Use the bottom of a glass to gently flatten the dough balls.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges turn golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on wire racks, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Notes
For softer cookies, bake for a minute less. You can add chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits for variations.
