Description

This Christmas Sprinkle Buttermilk Bread is a moist, buttery loaf packed with festive red and green sprinkles. Perfect for holiday breakfasts, gifting, or sweet treats throughout the season.

Ingredients

Scale

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour (210g)

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar (200g)

2 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk (240ml)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

½ cup red and green jimmies-style sprinkles

1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional for topping)

Extra sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line or grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until smooth (about 1 minute).

4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

6. Fold in sprinkles gently to avoid color bleeding.

7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top.

8. Sprinkle coarse sugar and extra sprinkles on top if desired.

9. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

10. Cool in pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

11. Slice and serve once fully cooled.

Notes

Avoid overmixing to maintain a soft, fluffy texture.

Use jimmies sprinkles—not nonpareils—to avoid bleeding colors.

You can substitute buttermilk with 1 cup milk + 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar.
