Description

A modern twist on the classic Chicken Parmesan, featuring a crispy air-fried coating and topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to an even thickness)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the pounded chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Lightly coat each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the chicken in a single layer and air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, spoon marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella. Close the air fryer briefly to melt the cheese.
  6. Remove the chicken from the fryer, let it rest for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

For an even crispier coating, consider a two-step dredging method with egg and breadcrumbs.
