- 1 cup whole milk or milk alternative (cold)
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee (fine-ground)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- Ice cubes (as needed)
- Optional: pinch of cocoa or cinnamon, grated dark chocolate, or coffee beans (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the glass and milk. Fill a tall glass two-thirds with ice, then pour in 1 cup of cold milk.
- Combine the whipped ingredients. In a medium bowl, add 2 tablespoons instant coffee, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons hot water.
- Whip to glossy peaks. Using a whisk or electric mixer, whisk vigorously until you achieve glossy, satin peaks. This takes about 3-5 minutes by hand or 1-2 minutes with a mixer.
- Spoon a generous dollop of the whipped coffee over the chilled milk.
- Garnish the top with cocoa, dark chocolate, or cinnamon before serving.
Notes
For best texture, store whipped coffee and milk components separately. Revive whipped coffee by whisking briefly if necessary.
