- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- Extra chopped pecans for garnish
- Sea salt flakes for sprinkling
- Drizzled caramel sauce for finishing touches
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar, then cut in the cold, cubed butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Evenly distribute the pecan halves over the crust.
- In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it starts boiling.
- Continue stirring for one additional minute, then carefully pour the hot caramel over the pecan layer.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- After removing from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars and let them soften for a few minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly with an offset spatula.
Notes
Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate them.
