Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Extra chopped pecans for garnish
  • Sea salt flakes for sprinkling
  • Drizzled caramel sauce for finishing touches

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar, then cut in the cold, cubed butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Evenly distribute the pecan halves over the crust.
  6. In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it starts boiling.
  7. Continue stirring for one additional minute, then carefully pour the hot caramel over the pecan layer.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  9. After removing from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars and let them soften for a few minutes.
  10. Spread the melted chocolate evenly with an offset spatula.
