- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup whole milk or heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch cake pan and place parchment paper at the bottom.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar together for about 3-5 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Pour in the whole milk or heavy cream and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can be frozen for three months.
