Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the room-temperature butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract to the mixture, mixing until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Using a cookie scoop, place rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown with a nutty aroma, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together the browned butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Drizzle or spread the brown butter icing over the cooled cookies and let it set before serving.
