Description

A heartwarming dish combining tender chicken, creamy sauce, and cheesy tortellini, perfect for special occasions or comforting meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (9 oz) package of cheese tortellini
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken by sprinkling both sides liberally with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken and let it rest.
  3. While the chicken rests, boil the tortellini according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese; bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Slice the rested chicken and return it to the skillet, adding the cooked tortellini. Mix until combined, adding red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Serve in bowls topped with freshly chopped basil.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with a crisp salad or crusty bread. For added depth, consider adding sun-dried tomatoes or spinach to the sauce.
