- 180 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon matcha powder
- 1 tablespoon milk powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 115 g unsalted butter, softened
- 150 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 100 g white chocolate, roughly chopped (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the flour, matcha powder, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and gradually add the granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped white chocolate carefully to avoid overmixing.
- Scoop the dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are set and centers soft. Optionally, add extra chocolate chunks during the last two minutes of baking.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a stronger matcha flavor, add an extra half tablespoon of matcha powder. Refrigerating the dough for 30 minutes before baking can enhance the flavors and control spreading.
