Description
Spooky Mummy Cupcakes bring playful Halloween vibes with chocolate cupcakes, creamy frosting “wrappings,” and candy eyes. You’ll whip them up fast with a boxed mix, then decorate in minutes for a fun party treat everyone loves.
Ingredients
1 box chocolate cupcake mix
Ingredients listed on the box (eggs, oil, water)
White frosting
Chocolate frosting
Candy eyes
Piping bags or zip-top bags
Cupcake liners
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to the temperature listed on the cupcake mix.
2. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
3. Prepare the cupcake batter following the box directions (usually eggs, oil, and water).
4. Divide the batter evenly among liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
5. Bake according to package time, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
6. Spread a generous layer of white frosting over each cupcake for the base “wrapping.”
7. Fill a piping bag with chocolate frosting and pipe crisscross lines to mimic mummy bandages.
8. Press two candy eyes onto each cupcake, adjusting bandages around them for a peeking effect.
9. Plate the cupcakes on a festive tray and serve.
10. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Notes
Swap flavors: vanilla or red velvet work great.
Use a zip-top bag with a snipped corner if you don’t have piping tips.
Chill the cupcakes 10 minutes before decorating for cleaner lines.
For extra chocolate flavor, add 1 teaspoon espresso powder to the mix.
