Ingredients

  • 12 taco shells (crunchy, pre-made)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey (fresh for fullness)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (preferably low-sodium)
  • 3/4 cup water (room temperature)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (sharp)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh and firm)
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (finely sliced)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish, finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat, stirring occasionally until fully cooked.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, simmering until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Spoon the seasoned meat mixture into each taco shell.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the filled taco shells.
  6. Place the tacos on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with diced tomatoes, green onions, sour cream, and chopped cilantro.

Notes

For enhanced crunchiness, pre-bake the taco shells for 5 minutes before filling. Feel free to add black beans or corn to the meat mixture for added flavor.
