- 12 taco shells (crunchy, pre-made)
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey (fresh for fullness)
- 1 packet taco seasoning (preferably low-sodium)
- 3/4 cup water (room temperature)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (sharp)
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh and firm)
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions (finely sliced)
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish, finely chopped)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat, stirring occasionally until fully cooked.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and water, simmering until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.
- Spoon the seasoned meat mixture into each taco shell.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the filled taco shells.
- Place the tacos on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with diced tomatoes, green onions, sour cream, and chopped cilantro.
Notes
For enhanced crunchiness, pre-bake the taco shells for 5 minutes before filling. Feel free to add black beans or corn to the meat mixture for added flavor.
