- 1 loaf of French bread, cubed
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (whole or 2% works best)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter or cooking spray for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
- Add the cubed French bread and fresh blueberries to the egg mixture and gently fold together until the bread is well coated.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes until set and the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm, optionally topped with syrup or powdered sugar.
Notes
Use day-old bread for the best texture. This casserole can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
