Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make slow cooker chicken shawarma packed with aromatic spices.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Pita bread or wraps
  • Toppings (e.g., lettuce, tomato, cucumber, tahini sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, pepper, olive oil, and lemon juice.
  2. Lay the chicken in your slow cooker and spoon the marinade all over the pieces.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  4. Shred the chicken using two forks and mix it back into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  5. Serve the shredded chicken in warm pita bread or wraps with fresh toppings.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade. Let the marinated chicken sit in the fridge for a couple of hours for enhanced flavor.
