- 3 tbsp honey, room temperature
- 1 tsp chili flakes or 1 tbsp sriracha
- 1 tsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 small avocado, sliced
- Fresh cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
- Lime wedges, for serving
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: Warm honey in a small saucepan and whisk in chili flakes or sriracha, lime juice, and soy sauce until glossy.
- Heat the pan: Warm a heavy skillet and add olive oil until shimmering.
- Sear the halloumi: Cook slices in a single layer for 1.5–2 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
- Glaze the cheese: Reduce heat, spoon warm spicy honey over each slice, coating evenly.
- Warm the tortillas: Char each tortilla in the skillet for 10–15 seconds per side.
- Assemble the tacos: Layer halloumi on tortillas, add avocado, pickled onions, and cilantro, then drizzle with spicy honey.
Notes
For extra flavor, quick-pickle onions in vinegar and water with a pinch of sugar for 10 minutes. Use lime zest in the sauce for aromatic lift.
