Description
Delight your senses with these elegant bites, transforming traditional jalapeno poppers into a sophisticated appetizer with creamy cheese and zesty jalapenos.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small fresh jalapeno, finely diced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
- Fresh cilantro, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeno, and garlic powder until smooth and well-integrated.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to increase its thickness slightly.
- Slice the pastry into strips, about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.
- Place a spoonful of the jalapeno mixture at one end of each strip, ensuring it’s not overcrowded.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and twist the ends to secure the stuffing, ensuring a nice, tight closure.
- Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and flaky.
- Allow the twists to rest briefly out of the oven to enhance their texture.
Notes
Serve warm for the best experience, and pair with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
