Description

An elevated take on the traditional Thanksgiving turkey, featuring tender, herb-infused flavors and a sumptuous sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds), thawed and cleaned
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup white wine (preferably dry)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
  • 2 cups bread crumbs (preferably homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Pat the turkey dry with paper towels, then rub it inside and out with salt and pepper.
  2. Gently spread the softened butter all over the turkey for an even coating.
  3. In a saucepan, combine chicken broth, white wine, thyme, and rosemary. Simmer to infuse flavors.
  4. Place the turkey in a roasting pan, pour sauce into the bottom, and cover loosely with foil. Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  5. 30 minutes before the turkey is done, mix bread crumbs with parsley. When the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C), remove it.
  6. Remove the foil, sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the turkey, and return to the oven uncovered for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For enhanced juiciness, consider brining the turkey overnight. Alternatively, use seasoned rotisserie chicken for quicker prep.
