Description
Refined chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and tender centers, highlighted by brown sugar and high-quality chocolate.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (340 g) semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt until homogenous; set aside.
- Beat the room-temperature butter on medium speed until soft and fluffy, about 1–2 minutes.
- Add both sugars and beat until light and slightly grainy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully combined; stir in vanilla.
- Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Portion the dough onto prepared sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–13 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers are slightly soft.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt as soon as cookies exit the oven and allow to cool before transferring to a rack.
Notes
Chill scooped dough for 15 minutes to minimize spread. For a fudgy center, slightly underbake cookies.
