Description

Chickpea potato patties are a delightful blend of flavors, making them a perfect snack or appetizer, packed with protein and fiber.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling the cubed potatoes in salted water until they are tender. Once done, drain them and let cool slightly.
  2. Mash the drained chickpeas using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth but still slightly chunky.
  3. Incorporate the cooked potatoes, chopped onion, and minced garlic into the mashed chickpeas. Add the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, and mix everything until well combined.
  4. Form the mixture into patties, using your hands to shape them as desired.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the oil.
  6. Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown.
  7. Serve your chickpea potato patties warm, garnished with fresh herbs, if desired, and alongside a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

For a Mediterranean twist, consider adding sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese for a burst of flavor.
