- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup milk (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add in milk, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually stir in the flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 60 minutes).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 10-12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a bun.
- Place on the baking sheet and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg for a glossy finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool before slicing and using for burgers or sandwiches.
Notes
Refrigerate buns in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To freeze, wrap each bun tightly in plastic wrap and store in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
