Description
A bright, zesty pizza that combines citrus and aromatic herbs for an extraordinary flavor experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (whole wheat or traditional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced)
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone inside to warm.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle, ensuring it has a slightly thicker edge for the crust.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, and zest.
- Transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza peel dusted with flour. Brush the sauce evenly across the surface, leaving the edges free for the crust.
- Layer the mozzarella slices across the pizza, followed by an even sprinkle of parmesan. Finish with fresh herbs, red pepper flakes, and a sprinkle of sea salt and black pepper.
- Carefully slide the pizza from the peel onto the hot pizza stone. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute before slicing.
Notes
For a more gourmet touch, substitute burrata for mozzarella or add slices of ripe heirloom tomatoes.
